This is the first time I've ever watched a super smash brothers tournament
and i just gotta say:

1. That up smash
2. These guys are REALLY GOOD
3. WOW I knew that the smash community was really passionate and skilled,
but holy crap! These guys make the game look like it's on 10x speed! It's
really fun to watch and to learn about how the competitive scene is! I've
always been among the best players I usually play with, but this blows me
out of the water.

In short, this is awesome and I'm sad I've been missing out!

Every time the commentators said CC, I would think, "how is he stunning,
fearing, snaring, slowing, or silencing him?" Damn WoW. And smash too. Make
a new dictionary for smash terms plox. :P

...Can someone explain how StarFox Smash Bros. Melee is entertaining? It's
like watching a slap fight that never ends because people refuse to let a
game with a meta that's community made die and move on because the other
games aren't mechanically broken enough to function like Street Fighter or
Tekken. Why are these people not just moving to a game that it's intent
wasn't meant to be family/casual friendly rather than beating the dead
horse that is melee? All the reading and things like that happen in the
subsequent Smash games and don't need stupidly complex game breaking that
melee does. Anyone can pick them up and come in and get good, but Melee you
need all this obnoxious technical info that smash was never intended to be
about.

Gonna be that asshole and put my opinion out; pick up an actual fighting
game, not this unintended mutant cousin of Smash that melee has grown to
be. You've all proven you can understand the complex combos and reads
actual fighting games have, stop being babies and make the switch to a game
that isn't the same match ups 24/7. Things that actually have support by
their original content creators when Sakurai himself said competitive smash
has no future; you can only defy a game's age for so long before people
lose interest. Fuck sake, Pokemon has a better competitive scene than melee
because anyone has a shot at making it to the top if they pursue it, while
Melee will always be the same circle jerk of players until they retire and
someone else takes their place.

This game looks very cruddy. It seems old and limited in character choice.
these two character practically play the same and i see them way too often

This was by far the best commentary I've ever heard in a smash stream.
Mango is surprisingly amazing at commentating.
They were talking about character matchups, stage advantages, player
mindsets, player patterns, player mistakes, and so much more. They
constantly talked about the good and bad things the players were doing,
what the players might have been thinking, and what they should be doing or
should be thinking about. That's what commentary SHOULD be for video games.
Hype and humor are great, but nothing beats diving into a high level match
with excellent, insightful commentary.

I hate when commentators just fill space by repeating what's happening on
screen like radio sports, like a lot of the more popular smash commentators
seem to do. They're saying nothing insightful most of the time...

The dude with the orange controller, really? I can't even keep up with his
hand movements. I can't even. Over this game? It;s not worth it. 

I both loved the commentary and was annoyed by it just a little bit. Every
mistake was pointed out to the point of: "Gosh should they be playing
PERFECT"?

But I loved the insight. Awesome match
