http://www.vladtv.com - Lord Jamar sat down with VladTV and shared his thoughts on sports commentator and former Phoenix Suns player Charles Barkley's comments about African-Americans thinking there's such a thing as "acting black" and its origins in ignorance. Jamar feels there is truth to these comments, saying he himself has been accused of "acting/speaking white," and that there are certain things African-Americans view as "White" that they shouldn't.
Check out the clip above.
What Barkley said about blacks is true for a certain segment of the black
population to a certain degree, but the only reason Barkley said it was to
get brownie points from whites folks, because he`s a sellout buckdancing
coon whose married to a white women.Charles never speaks out against this
racist white supremacist system, and the fact that certain blacks see
speaking proper English as acting white,is used by the white supremacist
system and the black sellout coons,to cover up systematic racism white
supremacy that effects blacks negatively everyday.
I suggest that black folks do not support coon ass Negroes like Charles
Barkley and Steven A. Smith,by not watching the show that they are on,and
email the network that they are on,and tell the networks that they will
stop watching the network, unless they fire Steven a Smith and Charles
Barkley. Its about time blacks folks start punishing these coons because
these coons help white supremacy undermine the black community, just so they
can get table scraps from this white supremacist system, and/or a pat on
the head by this white supremacist system.
Also the perception by some blacks that speaking properly is acting white,
and acting ignorantly is acting black,is partly the fault of the white
supremacist system.Because in these white supremacist schools and media,we
are not thought much about great black accomplishment. We are mostly thought
white so-called accomplishments, and the media likes to promote black
entertainers who act ignorantly, especially certain type of rappers who act
ignorantly and promote ignorant content. Those factors help give blacks a
negative perception of themselves,in the form of thinking that not speaking
properly and acting ignorantly somehow equates to blackness.

Real talk... All my life I had to deal with this idiocy.
If you speak like a hood nigga use mad slang when you talk niggaz don't say
nothing but the moment you begin to sound like you actually read during
your spare time. black people wanna say you sound white.... which is
insulting yourself basically. Lol because if white people are the only ones
who are supposedly educated then what are you saying about yourself lmao

I don't know, the only people in real life I've heard get accused of
acting white, are those who act like things their interested in(rock music,
skateboarding, being republican, etc...) makes them above the average black
person. Those who bash black culture so they can look good in white
people's eyes(which will never happen).
Knew plenty of popular kids who got good grades, didn't hear them get
accused of acting white.

our community is shooting itself in the foot, black kids and ADULTS who act
like they got some sense are called, "punks" "house niggas" or "not real"
do you have to go to jail to be a real "nigga" or why would i want to be
any kinda "nigga" to begin with?!?!?!?! cant i just be a man period?!?!?
god forbid if you know how to read or write, or like showing up to work on
time its like the more you act like a human being in the black community
the less respect you get from your own people.

I can't co-sign Barkley because he never speak out against systematic
racism. He only speak on black ppl flaws and because of that I question his
motive.

Funny thing about this video. I stated that there was no such thing as
acting white/black but people who agreed with Jamar said otherwise in
another recent video of his with that Iggy chick and him discussing the way
she talks and acts. Now in this video he is stating the same thing I said.
Its very ignorant to say someone is acting black/white because its
impossible to do. Its something that simply doesn't exist. People cannot
wrap their heads around it though because they have a very flawed and
hypocritical logic.

Most blacks have been conditioned to bring one another down,so in reality
we hate our selves but also get mad when others hate us as well,we let the
white man create an image of us through our so called "culture". Slavery
has truly damaged us and it still affects some of us til this day;I blame
ourselves, the white man gave us freedom now the question is what have we
done with it?

Basically, all he's saying is black people are worried about the wrong
shit. Instead of investing your money on Jordans, you should save that
money up for college. Buying luxury good items gives black people a sense
of accomplishment or being rich...that Gucci belt or those pair of Jordans
doesn't mean shit in the real world. White people may wear those Payless
shoes or t-shirt from Walmart or Kohl's, but they have more capital,
savings, and money you'll never see because they don't care to show off
name brands.

IN MY OPINION (let me be VERY clear that this is only my opinion) one of
the main reasons why blacks current situation is bad is due to ourselves.
We as blacks are quick to discredit one another and for some of us who
already lack drive and self esteem it does nothing to help us. If all teens
hear from adults in their families and in school is that they are gonna be
failures no matter what then they tend to say fuck it and focus on what
makes them feel good. Which for the most part is not good. Partying,
drinking, excessive sex, fighting, etc. That's the same reason that I hear
a lot of black people say they don't go to church anymore. Too much
prejudging and alienation. Doesn't matter what household or establishment,
we are tearing each other down, while blaming "the white man". For example,
I know at least a few people are going to bash me for sharing my thoughts.
That's the mentality I'm speaking of. With all of this new found awareness
of this age of social-media, I refuse to believe that us blacks are lost
causes.
We need to begin focusing on the things that we are doing right. So many
black kids are told not to go into sports or music, but the same amount if
not more white kids pursue music and sports. Yet no one talks about that
fact. All the average child sees is successful entertainers. And the same
adults that would steer them away from entertainment, praise these rappers
and ball players. No one is sitting down with these kids and showing them
other options. Black people at this time aren't being shown the reward for
being model citizens. Especially with police officers shooting us down at
the drop of a dime and members of the media and politics blaming us.
I agree with Charles Barkley, but I don't see Chuck trying to teach these
kids any different. Only those of us who care to see things change should
be given a platform to share their opinion of society at large. I'm one of
the many people that want to see things change and speak to young members
of my family and neighborhood to inform them. How many of you actually try
to speak to people about the things you feel are wrong with society? If you
aren't a part of the solution, then you're a part of the problem.

I can relate to this topic from here in New Zealand where we experience a
similar scenario - many Maori (indigenous, brown skinned) people have also
bought into the stereotypes put upon us by the white colonialists ie. that
we are 'supposed' to be staunch, ignorant, happy go-lucky, tough, poorly
spoken, musical etc etc - if we are well spoken, highly educated, sober!,
academic etc then somehow we are 'less Maori' - WTF!!!???

Do you know why this video is here? Do you know why racial arguments still
exist? When SOME white people owned slaves or supported segregation back in
the day, blacks weren't treated equally, I think we definitely all know
that. During the '60s, Martin Luther King Jr. would change that. He
peacefully protested. He didn't burn cars or loot stores in his own
hometown. The laws would soon change afterwards. Skip ahead about a decade.
Segregation is over, everyone is treated equally, but SOME white people
don't agree with these laws. They despise the black people. On the other
hand, MOST white people were just fine with it. Over the years, racism has
decreased. But how is there still arguments about race around? Since
the small portion of whites didn't like them, the blacks didn't like them
back. Naturally, blacks would talk bad about the whites. It was wrong, but
anyone would do it. The word "racist" was spread throughout the black
community. It lost it's meaning, since blacks would label everything the
whites said about them "racist" more and more. The definition of that word
has been lost for a few years, almost a decade. Now, here we are. That word
used every single day against us. You know, whites freed you. Whites got
rid of segregation for you. Whites fought for you in the Civil War. Racism
is gone, deal with it. Now since that annoying word is used against us
everyday, we're fighting back. Now it's just a fat argument that has no
reason to still be erupting. Look at the Jews. They were killed by the
millions by the Nazis. Do you ever see Jews protesting over racism from the
Nazis? No, you don't. Notice how I capitalized the words "some" and "most".
I did that so you people can see that not every white person hates you.
Only a fraction of a percent actually is racist against you. So let's just
stop this mess. You really think that cops would shoot someone in his own
community because of his race? No. So, again, stop. You've got your
freedom. Everyone's got their freedom. But soon I feel we'll all have to
fight for it.

Barkley is DEAD WRONG! I lived in a all black neighborhood til I was about
16 years old and I can say we all wanted better for ourselves. Of course
kids are gonna dress according to what is cool in pop culture. Amongst our
peers we used slang but amongst adults/elders or anything public and formal
we talked properly JUST LIKE WHITE KIDS DO. Im a huge Barkley fan but I
think he is dead wrong. Another thing that Barkley says that irks me is
that we only want to be athletes and rappers. Well unfortunately the only
successful blacks that these black kids will see on tv are rappers and
athletes. Thats why President Obama being in office was such a big deal, we
can actually be the president of the US if we work hard enough.

Charles Barkley is wrong. Black people don't ask me why don't I talk Black
when I'm in College. Only white people and other minorities do. I had to
argue with a a Professor because he didn't think I grew up in Detroit and
that went to Public schools my whole life. This is because I talk well.

What is acting black or acting white why can't it be a person being
themselves and why can't it be a person has a different way of thinking and
they have a education & knowledge & know who they are as a person & that a
person is leader & not a follower & that ppl are ppl & they are individuals
we weren't to all be the same like ppl say we are black we don't do that
it's a white persons thing or a this person thing why can't it be this is a
lot of ppls thing believe it or not different races all do & have things in
common & that we all do things a lot alike or close to it ppl are ppl and
being closed minded gets you no where if it was a this race thing or that
race thing then we wouldn't be able to go different places see&do different
things nor would we have things in common to be able to have friends of
different races there are ppl who try to act like & be just like other ppl
& races you can tell when it's not real & you can tell when a person is
genuine & being themselves

AMERICANS TEND TO TAKE THINGS TOO FAR. Africans move to England, in part,
because they're Anglophiles. Nobody tells them not to speak with a British
accent. And they don't apologize about it at all. But then, Africans were
never subjected to the American-style slavery mentality.
