http://www.vladtv.com - Crooked I tackled Lord Jamar's strict views on the presence of White rappers in Hip Hop in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV.
While he may not personally agree with everything that Jamar says, Crooked I respects Lord Jamar's opinion, and saluted him for speaking out and expressing his honest beliefs on such a sensitive subject. He praised him for being a part of the Hip Hop movement before him, which paved the way for artists like himself and others to have the successes they have today. Crooked proceeded to dissect the history of Hip Hop being created by DJ Kool Herc, who was a Black man from the Bronx, to now becoming an art form that is not bound by race.
what jamar says just doesn't make sense to an open minded person. since the
english language was originated by europeans, anyone who isn't a descendant
has no business using their slang while speaking. see? it's silly. just
because a person of a different culture takes on a specific thing, doesn't
necessarily mean they're changing it. they put their spin on it. there's no
owning big shit like a whole music genre or a language. we're all human and
we can learn from each other. we have to stop separating ourselves based on
the amount of melanin in the skin.

He is correct. .When a white dude says he is doing black music nobody said
shit..Lord Jamar speaks the truth saying the exact same thing and here come
the white supremacists with a problem, white folks know that every piece of
music today came from the African diaspora..,blues, jazz, rock, country,
rnb, soul, funk, duwop, bepop, hard bop, hip hop, neo soul, even beethoven
was of African decent... the list goes on..but to hear a white supremacist
tell it Elvis is the king of rock and Eminem is the king of rap, these
culture bandits are ridiculous ..peace to the Gods and Earths...

Vlad has been milking Lord jamar comments for almost 2 years now.

I'm black and i don't give a fuck if you're white, i can't relate to Nas or
K-Rino, but i can understand their points, their problems, when you read a
book sometimes you can't relate to the story but somehow you like the
story, it's hard to explain when it comes to musical taste.

I hope youll know the difference between hip hop & rap music. if you aint
from the hood, you CANT be hip hop, its impossible. hip hop is an attitude,
before anything. black people DO own hip hip, white people don't want the
culture, they just want to make money from the rap music component. anybody
can make rap music apparently. but how can someone from the suburbs of
maine or china be hip hop just from listening to wu tang while growing up??
even the white man calls it "urban"

Whites are GUESTS in Hop Hop. PERIOD! I dont give a fuck what you say.

Crooked brings up a good point. Most people like to ignore the heavy Puerto
Rican presences in Hip-Hop from day one. And who do we have to show for?
Big Pun, Fat Joe that's it? Joell Ortiz maybe but he ain't go platinum.

Vlad is so boring with his question nowadays. Always the same shit about
gays or lord jamar or igloos.
Eric B. aka Quaashee (7 days ago)
I salute crooked he is one of the dopest lyricist and lord Jamar is a true
pioneer of hip hop and everything the brothers are saying is true, every
time black people create something, whites wanna step in and take it and
twist it and try to claim it as if they started it. Rock and Roll
originally started by black people, reggae, break dancing, and now hip hop
and because they run the industry, they gonna put iggy on top and give
macklamore the award for best hip hop album.. smh

LJ has good points but sometimes his logic is screwed up. Blacks invented
Hip Hop but we don't own it. Anyone can embrace Hip Hop and put their own
spin on it. That is how most if not all culture is. African Americans will
always be credited for its creation but its just impossible for culture to
be owned by anyone. Music comes and goes just like most genres and themes
in entertainment gets stale over time. Something else will take its place.
LJ has very conservative views when it comes to Hip Hop.

Hip hop is not Black music. It was made by David Hasselhoff to give the
Blacks hope. White people will reclaim it in due time. After all, White
people made hip hop what it is. They paid for all the CDs and loved the
culture from the get-go. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna turn up to
Niggas in Paris

Thank God he asked Crooked and not Royce. Royce would've been so bias with
his opinion. It would've been I gotta protect Eminem. Crooked kept it
thorough.
Dthugtherealist1 (7 days ago)
Even tho this wasn't what the entire interview was about. Eminem is one of
the few white rappers out there who basically grew up black but has
acknowledged over and over that he is white in this game. I can respect
that I can also respect his skills and that's why to me Em get's in my top
5. But hey that's just me.

lord jamars comments are good when talks about the lyrics and message. but
when he talks about race....
HEAT1996 (15 hours ago)
Those who use "relevant" to dismiss someone's opinion admit that the person
who is "not relevant" is in fact relevant enough for their opinion to not
only be of some importance, but they're right, and you don't want to
acknowledge it. The fact that you know who they are, and they have no
fucking clue of who you are, means YOU'RE not relevant. At least Jamar is
relevant enough for his opinion on the state of Hip Hop to be asked
continually by folks who don't have to ask him shit.

I LOVE THESE INTERVIEWS!! He should though mention how much work Game and
B.o.B. put in talking about the injustices done by the police and
goverment! I agree that not enough rappers use their voice but a shout out
to the people who do would be cool.

I'm tired of niggas out there bashing on Em like he wack and ain't nothing
to fuck with. I need you guys to answer these questions honestly and with
an open mind knowing what others in the game is doing and talking about on
their tracks.
1. Does Em ever say nigga on a track?
2. Does Em ever boast about how much money HE got?
3. Does Em ever keep reminding you that he out sells everyone almost every
year he comes out with an album.
4. Doesn't Em rhyme about HIS LIFE and what HE goes through? (not hustling,
fucking bitches, making it rain, how much he just spent on whatever.....you
get my point)
5. How many ESTABLISHED rappers would put their career on the line and beef
with Em? (not ones just trying to start shit to make a name.....actual mans
with contracts and reputation to lose.)
6. How many times has Em been on a major colab track and was the best verse
on the track. (and again...while NOT saying niggah, talking about his money
or comparing his release numbers to others)
7. How many artists are there in the game that are globally successful that
made a name for him/herself coming from a freestyle background? (again
battling dudes/chicks who had no vocab filter and could say niggah as a
crutch for rhyme fillers or how some artists use for emphasis at start or
end of puch lines.)
8. Has Em ever tried to act like he isn't white and not respect the fact
that he's in a black industry making money and utilizing the black culture
to make a living?
Now with all of these answered.....now go back and listen to Jamar's
interview and understand why it's not fair to go hard on Em like that.
What do you want this dude to rap about? He's not going through the
bullshit he was going through in the past to rap about....everyone who
battled with him got bodied, he no longer does freestyle battling. (he's
too old for that stuff now anyways.) You want him to start rapping with
Jucy J on Trap beats or something...will that be sufficient? How about a
colab with Drake? (That is if Drake or J.Cole or Kendrick would put their
current success and reputation on the line and even risk the comparison)
Drake already tried with the "Over" remix and we already know who killed
that one.. (Kanye was a close second)
I'm sick of the Eminem bashing when Em is pretty much killing mans with a
handicap!
Take the filter off and let him be allowed to say or speak about HALF the
shit most of these so called MC's are rapping about and see the Pandora's
box open up on Em's already diverse vocabulary and wordplay skills. I'm
disappointed in Jamar...he should understand this by now.
To say that he just rhymes dope but don't talk about shit that we don't
care about....so making it rain? bricks? bitches? pound cake? whatever
man..it's always racial with these people...Hip Hop wasn't a racist thing,
and it shouldn't be..and if you trying to say it is...then no wonder we
hurting as a culture. So it's safe to say that racism will never die unless
we kill genres like hip hop?!? smh
