I just beat my first dragon today and it was so satisfying. My character is
a KE as well but I also fought with the objective of keeping my entire
party alive. I brought Cassandra, Iron Bull, and Solas. I spent quite a bit
of my time in the Tactics view commanding everyone specifically. I'm not
even playing on Hard or Nightmare, but I'm not that good and this is my
first Dragon Age game. First time I saw the Ferelden Frostback I ran
towards it with the mindset of the Dovahkiin, needless to say I got face
rolled. One hell of a welcome to the series, but in already hooked. I'm
about to spend my entire winter break on this game and there will be no
regrets. But my main point is, I don't see the fun in playing a broken
character, but whatever, people can play the game however they want as long
as it's not affecting anyone else (i.e. Multiplayer).

+IGN Knight-Enchanter is well known because of the popularity of Arcane
Warrior in Dragon Age: Origins and so isn't really a secret.
Solas is honestly the best kept secret... Rift Mage is so OP against
dragons. Dragons are not immune to weaken, and it synergized well with
other DPS classes that have attacks based on the enemy's health (Reaver or
Assassin). In my opinion, I like team synergy as opposed to watching my
team get killed all the time.
Honeslty, the Stormrider is like the 3rd easiest dragon and you were level
18 (probably on the easiest difficulty). Stormrider does not generate
guard, and is weak to Spirit, which makes this dragon perfectly suited for
the Knight-Enchanter. Later dragons require a bit more tactics of the
entire team, rather than one class. Try your tactic with the Ravager and
you would get slaughtered, and I am not even talking about on Nightmare.
I tend to like bringing Assassin, Reaver, Rift Mage, and Champion. Each
dragon I have faced, my team has not died at all except for one unlikely
shot that brought down Varric when I brought him along.
Point is: The Knight-Enchanter is not the absolute best against dragons,
but it is excellent against the first 3 dragons. For the later dragons,
plan a team and not just one class.

And that's why i love Dark Souls. In almost every RPG you can exploit some
power to the point where you don't need to do anything other to "hit
square". In Dark Souls, even if your character is powerful, you'll never
win standing around and attacking. You really have to think your tatics,
dodge, position yourself and be skillful.
(Both games are awesome in their own ways, i'm just saying my opinion. I
think Dragon Age is cool for its interactions between characters and your
choices but i like the gameplay for Souls better)

Arrrrggg. Stop splitting your dialog to left vs rigth channels. It's
anoying! And no way to use just one earbud when listening.

Yeah, I was baffled when I solo'd dragons on my Knight Enchanter on
NIGHTMARE. It's just unstoppable. That barrier.
But, yeah, Knight Enchanter is bloody boring as hell, really. Combat is
just boring now. Just ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz......
So, yeah, in conclusion, the combat system is utter shite. I mean, it's
unbalanced, right? So it's shit. When you combine this with the fact that
skill progression is also pretty bland and uninspiring, how can you say the
combat is good? No tactics required or nothing.

I LOVE VIVIENNE omggggggg she's one of the best companions in the whole
game and she's one of my fav companions in any bioware game ever. when she
talks to your party members and argues with them im literally laughing out
loud omg she's so funny I love her and she's so cocky and full of herself
lol but I love that about her! and she should be!! she's amazing omg

Totally new to this game, digging it but I feel like I'm missing something.
I know you can create weapons/armor and add parts to your weapons and armor
to make them better but I feel like I'm not getting good loot. Not sure if
I'm just not far enough into the game or what, if anyone has any tips on
that or just anything in general it would be appreciated.

Having just played an knight enchanter character i can attest to how much
easier the dragons are with that class they tear through Gaurd like no
ones business. personally i recommend playing Knight enchanter and
leaving vivienne at home and taking two warrior classes or dorian warrior
and archer for cover. just not a real fan of vivienne personally

It don't work worth jack in the PC version. Knight Enchanters are totally
mediocre at best.

the spec needs a improve... and i can play a champion who REALLY dont get
any dmg from dragon.
your friend say "oh look the tank is dying" because the AI in this game
suck balls and a templar is more a support DD/tank and not the "right tank"
for a dragon fight

Good skill, but the fastest way to kill a dragon is to take Sera with full
Focus and use Fire potion and two shot the dragon with 1k cuts.
This is on Hard.

Well If you want to make a Knight Enchanter really strong. Grab a Fire
staff, Take Barrage and step into the fire tree. Gives more options for
ranged sustained damage. The passive which consumes barrier really doesnt
hamper survivability. Immolate -> Barrage -> Frost step is a fun opener
especially if you try to tank (Skipping treath reduction). If you crit with
immolate you can also get 2x Barrages off for mega damage.
Any dragon is soloable as knight enchanter, especially if you match a
vurnability with barrage (so you can build barrier at range when required).
This is fully possible using either the Inquisitor or Vivienne. Kinda
regret i did my first playtrought as a knight enchanter inquisitor. But
felt kinda heroic taking on the last mission solo, just for the heroic
parts.

I would think if your barriers are as important as you say, you wouldn't
skip making them 50% stronger
