A Night Flight of the JJRC H8C Quadcopter

The LED's on this quad look great at night. This is my 4th flight of the JJRC H8C and I'm really liking it. This has a lot more power than the X5C and handles about the same though it does ''look' a lot better and is faster. There are many reports of early engine failures with this model so I won't recommend it yet over The Syma X5C as that is tried and tested but so far I like this a lot better and hope it holds out OK.

Heavy Snow in Buxton, Derbyshire, UK. Filmed today on 27th December 2014 using the supplied video camera on The DJI Phantom 'Drone' Quadcopter.

There was a lot of heavy snow over Derbyshire and The Midlands UK last night so I got the quadcopter up in the sky to get a good view of it.

This is my second flight of the JJRC. The JJRC H8C Quadcopter seems to be quite good in these early days although there are currently well known issues the worst that this is to be prone to early engine failure, we haven't had that problem yet but it's early days yet.

This is our first look at this quad which people are saying is better than The Syma X5C but for around the same price.

So far on first looks it does look like a nice quad and a new rival to the X5C-1. We're going to give this quad a lot of tests over the next few weeks and cover it on video so stay tuned.

We thought we'd see how it would handle and look to attach a sparkler onto a Syma X5C quadcopter. The sparkler is pretty heavy with a long metal body but it handled it OK. Due to extra weight at the back I had to go more heavy with my forward control, if I'd have balanced the sparkler out even there would probably have been no flight adjustment needed as it was windy but The X5 carried it with ease.

Don't try this at home! :)

A flight demonstration of The Syma X6 Giant "SuperShip" Quadcopter.

We were not very impressed with this at first as it was slow and flimsy but it flies a lot better with the ring of foam around it removed. It was a fairly windy day and this quad does not handle the wind very well, the range is also not very good out of the box though we intend to modify this.

Scanning through 27MHz & 28MHz (The 10 Meter & 11 Meters Band) USB with The Realistic RadioShack DX394 HF Short Wave Receiver.

The DX394 is a pretty good HF Receiver if your looking for something low cost on a budget that performs fairly well. It has a Coverage of 150kHz -30.000kHz and covers the modes AM, LSB, USB and CW.

A Video of The Syma X5C Quadcopter. This quad is basically the same as the new JJRC H5C Quadcopter which is an X5C clone.

This was shot on a windy-ish evening in Buxton, Derbyshire, UK (17th Oct 2014). The quad is The X5C model.

We've filmed a few videos of this and The X5C-1 Quadcopter but haven't done one from the ground with music and the new Canon PowerShot SX510 HS HD cam yet so thought we would.

We've got a DJI Phantom FC40 now but still love this quadcopter which is a great low priced quad and a good one to get if you are thinking of getting into the hobby.

I've been asked if 2 Syma X5C Quadcopters would be able to Fly at the Same Time with One Remote Control. This video was a quick test to see if it is possible which it is, yay! With two Stable Syma Quadcopters synced it would make a great fun flight outdoors.

We'll get these outdoors to have a bit more fun with later...

DJI Phantom Quadcopter carrying flag invades Serbia and Albania Match.

The already politically sensitive match between Serbia and Albania for the Euro 2016 qualifier has got even more politically sensitive as the match yesterday (Tues 14th October 2014) was invaded by what the media are calling a drone.

It's actually a quadcopter and this model is the DJI Phantom, in the video above is a look at the thing close up, this one has a camera fitted but the one used to invade the pitch didnt as removing the extra weight of the camera would have helped the Phantom to manage carrying the flag and long ropes better.

OK, so its important to mention that this is 100% not the way to fly a drone as its dangerous and wreckless however the likelyhood of an average member of the public doing this is virtually zero as
people who own them have respect for them and they are also a lot of money.

It turns out money wasn't an object here though as it was political and rumours at the moment are that it was controlled by the
brother of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

So, safe flying to everyone out there watching this and I'll end the video with some great open press images of the incident.

The Uniden Bearcat BCD996XT Scanner Scanning though various frequencies in The VHF Airband. Scanner located in Buxton, central UK.

The programming of this scanner is very similar to the Uniden BCT15X, so if you are familiar with that you will find no problem with this. Be aware, although it is a digital and analogue scanner the digital function is fairly useless over here in The UK as it is aimed at the US market and covers digital modes popular over there such as APCO25. It will not decode DMR transmissions such as Mototrbo, Nexedge, D-Star, AMBE+2 and dPMR. There is a DMR scanner hitting the market soon called the AOR DV-1 which will decode DMR.
